End of the day

There is a lot of history to this area, but it was clear that the fields had been detected on before. It was also apparent from the finds that the area had once been used as a military training area! Some good finds were made, several hammered coins, a half sovereign, quite a few pre-decimal coins of Edwardian and Victorian vintage. Quite a few unidentifiable bronze coins. Lots of lead, shrapnel, bullets and some buttons. Some late Roman coins, a Roman brooch and a bull head sixpence were among the finds. Anyway. it was a good sunny day and most people seemed to enjoy the day and were happy with what they found. Richard Henry, the Wiltshire FLO, was in attendance to identify and record finds.
